Our Programs

Mindful Music, Inc. is always interested and open to exploring news ways in which we may connect with your clients or loved ones. Below is a sampling of some of the programs we have designed- we are adding more programs and curriculum daily. Please CONTACT US if you feel our services may be incorporated into your care facility, classroom, or home.

  • The Chrysalis Players: A Rock & Roll Social Club *- creating a music-centered social environment for children as well as adults who experience challenges in engagement and social interaction. These challenges are all-too-common, particularly for those affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other Neurodiversities.

  • Mindful Songwriting Workshops- assisting the participants in writing songs in order to give them an opportunity to tell their stories. We offer a studio session where these songs can then be recorded with the help of our Mindful Musicians as a backing band, and allow the client to own and publish the song and receive all proceeds from any associated sales. We work with people who have particularly difficult stories to tell including victims of abuse and/or assault, those grieving the loss of loved ones, those diagnosed with terminal illness, the homeless population, and combat veterans

  • Mindful Music in Schools- holding assemblies, educating students about the vast therapeutic benefits of music, introducing students to instruments and music from all over the world, and working in student-centered and special needs classrooms

  • Mindful Music Summer Camps- offering music-centered programs throughout the summer for children interested in music and live performance, culminating in live concerts

  • Mindful Music After School- providing an alternative to more traditional after-school care, offering music instruction, assembling student bands, and creating a space for kids to “recharge” by banging on drums, strumming guitars, and singing at the top of their lungs

  • Bedside Mindfulness- providing acoustic music at bedside for children and adults receiving inpatient hospital care, the disabled, and those in hospice and palliative care who are facing the final stages of life

  • Mindful Memory Care **- using both recorded music and performing live music for those receiving care in Assisted Living for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. We use music spanning every decade since the 1930’s, working closely with each client to find music that may have special meaning to them in hopes of evoking fond memories and feelings of nostalgia

  • Mindful Music Master Classes- inviting touring artists to participate in customized workshops- Songwriting, Mindful Jam Sessions, Musical Theatre Workshops, etc.- working directly with people in our community

  • Mindful Music for the Compassionate Caregiver- using music to provide respite for caregivers (family caregivers and professionals) who often experience "Caregiver Burnout," otherwise known as "Compassion Fatigue." We offer training as well to caregivers interested in incorporating music into their existing care methods

* Research has shown that music serves as an excellent and effective catalyst for connectedness and communication. The profound effects of music have proven beneficial in:

  • facilitating relationships, learning, self-expression, and communication

  • improving attention span, including gaining and maintaining attention

  • helping children learn to follow directions

  • helping children learn to express feelings appropriately, including instances where verbal language isn’t used

  • facilitating social skills including sharing, interacting appropriately with other children, taking turns, and responding in an acceptable manner

  • encouraging motivation

  • improving verbal skills including rate, volume, and pacing of speech

  • helping individuals process sensory information

  • building frustration tolerance including the ability to adjust to changes in routine

  • developing and improving gross motor skills such as directionality, balance, coordination, and walking

  • developing and improving fine motor skills

** “Music has power—especially for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. And it can spark compelling outcomes even in the very late stages of the disease. When used appropriately, music can shift mood, manage stress-induced agitation, stimulate positive interactions, facilitate cognitive function, and coordinate motor movements.

“This happens because rhythmic and other well-rehearsed responses require little to no cognitive or mental processing. They are influenced by the motor center of the brain that responds directly to auditory rhythmic cues. A person’s ability to engage in music, particularly rhythm playing and singing, remains intact late into the disease process because, again, these activities do not mandate cognitive functioning for success.”
